About Me
- Stan Strembicki
- Saint Louis, Missouri, United States
- Stan Strembicki was born in Providence, R.I. and attended the University of R.I. where he received his BFA in 1975. In 1977 he earned an MFA in photography from CalArts. He is currently a Professor of Art and Senior Faculty at the School of Art where he teaches classes on the undergraduate and graduate level in photography. His work is exhibited widely in the USA and Europe, and is part of major collections and museums in the Midwest and Southern United States.He founded the School of Art study abroad program in 1990 with his first workshop in Florence, Italy. Since then he has taught in Florence 11 times in both the spring and summer programs. He has a long history with the city of New Orleans, having first visited the city in 1984. He has photographed the last 20 Mardi Gras events in New Orleans and in 1996 lived in the French Quarter during a sabbatical leave. His work in Post Katrina New Orleans began 30 days after the hurricane hit the city and continues to this day. His work is represented by the Le Mieux Gallery in New Orleans.
